What is ECHA?
ECHA Entry: What the ECHA is and how to register your candles and fragrance oils via PCN notification
Once you have generated your UFI code (Unique Formula Identifier), you are required to register your candles and fragrance oils, along with their ingredients, with the ECHA (European Chemicals Agency).
The ECHA is the central authority of the European Union for the regulation of chemical substances. It ensures that chemicals are used safely and contributes to the protection of human health and the environment.
What does PCN notification mean?
The so-called PCN notification (Poison Centres Notification) is a legally required notification to poison control centers. All ingredients of a product are entered into the ECHA system to ensure that in case of an emergency, such as poisoning, help can be provided quickly and effectively. Once you have submitted your PCN notification, it will be registered and confirmed that you are placing the respective substances and mixtures on the market.
How to register your products with the ECHA
- Create an account: Visit the official ECHA website here and register a user account.
- Enter ingredients: Enter all components of your product into the PCN portal.
- Submit PCN notification: Submit the completed notification to finalize the registration.
With this process, you ensure that your products comply with legal regulations and that their composition can be accessed quickly in case of an emergency.
